As has been noted elsewhere, the most recent instance of the 13th day of a month landing on a Friday was back in March. I know I’m not alone in having a tough time distinguishing between days in the time of Covid-19, but March 13th was when the city declared a state of emergency. 

I wish the parallels ended there. Unfortunately, cases are rising once again, with the citywide rate going from 2.60% to 2.72% since yesterday. If the rate goes up to 3%, schools could have to switch to entirely remote learning as soon as Monday. If any such announcements are made, I’m sure media outlets with a bigger reach than this newsletter will report, but I’ll let you know as well. 

The infection rates are low in CB6 and have even dropped in some zip codes to our community’s credit and good fortune. However, we don’t live in closed-off zip codes or districts; we live in and share a city with millions of people. We can also keep doing our part to make our rates even lower by rigorously following all safety protocols. 

Looking to the week ahead, since they are zoom based, CB6 associated meetings are Covid resistant and will not be impacted. I say “associated” because we have official CB6 meetings and are also co-sponsor of other important meetings. On Monday, our Economic, Waterfront, Community, Development, and Housing Committee meets, and on Wednesday, we have our General Board meeting. On Tuesday night, we are co-sponsors of a Heat/Cool Smart webinar, and of course, Thursday, beginning at 6 PM, the Department of City Planning will present on plans for the "Public Place" site.
