Last night, as previewed in the newsletter leading up to it and on social media, our Economic, Waterfront, Community, Development, and Housing Committee met. If you weren’t able to make it or want to relive the magic, you can watch the meeting and go over the presentations by clicking here. A big thank you to everyone who attended and presented from the Citizens Housing & Planning Council and the Department of City Planning (DCP). Tonight we are co-sponsoring the Heat/Cool Smart webinar, and thank you to our Environmental Committee Co-Chair Angelica Ramdhari for making this happen.

Tomorrow night, Wednesday, November 18th, at 6:30 PM, we’ll hold our General Board Meeting Via Zoom. On Thursday, November 19th, starting at 6 PM, we are, for lack of a better term, a “Zoom Conduit” for DCP & HPD as they present and take questions regarding the updated Public Place/Gowanus Green Development proposal. You may have seen and heard about this on some kiosks around town.

Those meetings, since they part of our virtual reality, won’t be impacted by Covid spikes or snowstorms. There will still be in-person learning at least for tomorrow at NYC Schools as the COVID test positivity rate remains under 3%. The City’s infection rate dropped .3% to 2,74%. That’s still perilously close to the 3% that would make all schools shift to remote learning. However, as we saw in the fall, our plans & policies can change, so we’ll keep you posted. As a community, let’s keep up the excellent work as our rates are remaining low, and in some zip codes, rates are dropping.

Anyway, I hope you keep reading beyond my email signature, maybe read up on cynicism ceding to joy and find out more about what’s happening across our community. As always, I hope you and yours stay safe.

Best,
Mike Racioppo, District Manager
