Unfortunately, the literal sunset isn't the only one taking place. Sadly former Mayor David Dinkins passed away at the age of 93. I was fortunate enough to meet Mayor Dinkins a few times and discuss our shared love of tennis. I offer my deepest condolences to his family and to the many people who knew and admired him.

Mayor Dinkins famously called New York City a beautiful mosaic. I hope we as a community honor his legacy by making choices that reinforce and expand upon his vision for New York City.

The first step is to understand better his role in shaping the city we live in today. I hope that in death, people rediscover Mayor Dinkins' achievements and impact. Remembering that community policing started the crime rate falling throughout the 90s and that and other policies for which his dye stained successor took credit was primarily attributable to him.  

On that note, I'll stop typing and recommend checking out the items below my signature and stay safe as we prepare to give thanks.
