Schools Open, Alternate Side Suspended

We are nearly, but not quite, back to the old new normal. As evidence, unlike today, school buildings will be OPEN tomorrow, Friday, December 18th, for in-person learning. However, alternate side parking rules will be suspended through at least Saturday, December 19th.

DSNY remains on snow patrol, but don’t worry; you can put your trash and recycling materials out for collection like normal if you’d like. Just remember that it may be picked up a little later than usual. Also, if you see downed trees or branches, please report them to 311. The city has crews working to make sure hazards are removed ASAP.

Unrelated to the accumulation of snow stories, please remember we have some meetings coming up in the final weeks of 2020 and the beginning of 2021. This coming Monday, December 21, the EWCDH committee, led by Rick Luftglass, will meet to see a presentation about a rezoning proposed for Governors Island. I think it’s important to note that Governors Island isn’t part of our district even though it’s closer to us than Manhattan CB1, but that’s not the presenters' fault, and we appreciate them coming to us despite not being required to do so.
