With the new, more contagious strain of COVID-19 having appeared in New York and infection rates rising, 2021 is starting on a discordant note. However, we still have 360 days to make it a better year. A significant part of that is adherence to safety protocols and the city vaccinating as many people as possible as fast as possible. 

In that vein, as mentioned yesterday, we’ve sent a letter to CB6 resident/our Mayor and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene expressing these concerns. As coverage in the Brooklyn Paper shows, we aren't the only ones expressing such sentiments. We don't weigh-in for the sake of complaining but to advance a positive outcome. We can and have done better, and other places are currently doing better. For example, we vaccinated 6 million people against smallpox over a month in 1947. With a population of ninemillion, which is similar to that of NYC, Israel is on pace to have its entire population vaccinated by March.

Moving on just a quick heads up that Thursday’s Landmarks/ Land Use meeting will start at 6:30 PM instead of the usual 6 PM start time.
