I’m predisposed to begin this newsletter with the Gowanus hearing but instead, I’d like to start by thanking the Carroll Gardens Girl Scout troop for inviting me to their meeting to discuss local government and what a community board does. It was a great conversation and they had some excellent ideas for playgrounds that need renovation asap. It was the kind of thing that really gives one hope for the future. 

With that, I’ll move to the Gowanus rezoning hearing and Judge Katherine Levine’s predisposition. As Kevin Duggan notes in the Brooklyn Paper, her predisposition is towards allowing certification and she is lifting the TRO. However, what that means in terms of practical application for anyone reading this, or the one typing it, is TBD but the second I know more I’ll share it and I hope that sharing will include the EIS.
