As mentioned previously, our Youth, Human Services and Education committee met last night. One of the agenda items was a presentation from the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music (BKCM). BKCM highlighted how they’ve adapted during the pandemic to remain safe and still provide music education and experience with online lessons and streaming recitals. They also highlighted their FREE spring benefit that will offer outdoor music across our community. I’ve been lucky to attend BKCM events on pre-pandemic days, and if you like checking out different kinds of music, you should mark your calendar for Saturday, May 15th. 

The NYC Test & Trace Corps presented with a focus on Covid Stats that reinforce that we’re not done, by any means, yet. Further supporting that reality is that two committee and CB6 members, Joe Anne Brown and her daughter Tiffany Reid Brown currently have COVID-19. Being fortunate enough to know Tiffany and Joe Anne, I’m not surprised they made it to the meeting via zoom, but it’s still impressive. I’m also happy to know they are feeling better than they did last week. 

Shifting from a previous meeting to a reminder for a future meeting, two weeks from tonight, Thurs, April 15th, at 630 PM, our Transportation & Public Safety Committee will meet over zoom. The agenda will have two items. First is a presentation from the MTA on the planned elevator and other ADA improvements to the 7th Ave & 9th Street F & G Subway stop. The second will be a presentation from the MTA & DCP on a text amendment to increase the accessibility of subway stations. 

On that note, I’ll stop typing and suggest you read on below but most importantly, stay safe and get a COVID-19 vaccine when you can.
