Moving to things not directly related to Covid-19. Last night, our Permits & Licenses Committee met and approved 3 Liquor Licence applications. If you want to relive the meeting or see it for the first time, watch it here on youtube. The next CB6 committee meeting will be on Thursday when our Landmarks/Land Use Committee meets over Zoom at 6:30 PM. Don’t forget that this meeting will include an informational presentation from the Department of City Planning on the Gowanus Rezoning. 

If you crave Gowanus and rezoning-related content, you won’t have to wait until Thursday. In fact, at 6:30 PM, the Gowanus CAG will have its virtual May meeting. You may be interested in the letter sent to the EPA by many of our elected officials, including Councilmembers Lander & Levin, asking the EPA to evaluate the City’s Environmental Impact Statement regarding whether or not the rezoning would impair the canal remediation.  As noted, we’ve asked that the water quality standards for the canal be raised as recently as December 2019. The discussion of Gowanus-related matters can go on for quite some time, so  I’ll stop here and remind you of next Thursday’s public hearing and click here for other CB6 rezoning adjacent meetings in the coming weeks.
