Covid-19 numbers keep sliding in the right direction as we’re down to numbers not seen since the earliest stages of the pandemic. However, those stats don’t mean the pandemic is over, and small numbers still represent real people and thus, it’s really important to get vaccinated ASAP.

Shifting to the CB6 sphere of influence, thank you to everyone who submitted testimony for the Gowanus Rezoning. That testimony will be used to inform the Land Use Committee as they vote next Thursday, June 17th, and for the Full Board when it votes on June 23. After that, the ULURP calendar flips over to the Borough President’s review, where his office will also hold a hearing before issuing recommendations.

However, before that, we’ve got some other non-Gowanus-related meetings. A week from today, Monday, June 14th, our Economic, Waterfront, Community Development, and Housing Committee (EWCDH) will meet. The agenda will focus on last-mile warehouses in Red Hook. Also, next week, on Wednesday, June 16th, our Youth Human Services and Education Committee will hear from district 15 Superintendent Anita Skop on the proposed elementary school rezonings

Of course, community activity doesn’t start and stop solely with CB6 meetings, so I’d recommend checking out the listings, and other items, below my signature.

Lastly, stay safe, get vaccinated, and enjoy the rest of your day!

Best,
