First, get vaccinated against COVID-19 asap. For yourself, others, and a normal that may seem a lot better than it was. 

I’m not going to stop reminding folks to get vaccinated against COVID-19 ASAP, but I will pass along that we’ve reached “functional” immunity against the virus amongst our population. That’s, of course, welcome news, but until we reach true “herd immunity,” we’ll keep losing the lives of fellow New Yorkers.

The sun’s out later, and later, it makes sense that people want to stay outside with more daylight. Nonetheless, I feel obligate to loop folks in on some civic stuff that won’t be outdoors. For example, the NYC Campaign Finance Board's first Comptroller debate is tonight, while mayoral candidates will debate for the 2nd time in person. Not sure why both debates start at seven, but either way, it’s good to know as much as possible as early voting begins this Saturday and will go on until Tuesday, June 22nd. If you still want to vote by mail, request a ballot by this Tuesday, June 15th. 

On voting, of the nonelectoral kind, note that a week from today, on Thursday, June 17th, over Zoom, and beginning at 6:30 PM, our Landmarks/Land Use Committee will meet and vote on the Gowanus Rezoning. After that, whatever the committee says will be passed to the full board for a final resolution and vote at our June 23rd meeting. The process then moves on to the Borough President for his recommendation(s).
