I hope this message finds you well as we head into the weekend and a week that’s chock full of civic and community activity.

I hope this message finds you well as we head into the weekend and a week that’s chock full of civic and community activity.

Starting tomorrow, Saturday, June 12th,  early voting for our next city government begins; there will also be events across the district. Some will be for Pride; others involve scavenger hunts or local produce, but they’re all worth checking out, and I’ve listed many below.

Looking beyond the weekend, we’ll hold three committee meetings next week. On Monday, June 14th, we have an Economic Waterfont, Community Development, and Housing Committee meeting followed by a Youth, Human Services & Education meeting on Wednesday, June 16th. Both will be held over zoom and get started at 6:30 PM.

Our 3rd meeting of the week on Thursday, June 17th, over Zoom, beginning at 6:30 PM, is our Landmarks/Land Use Committee meeting which will feature a vote on the Gowanus Rezoning. After that, whatever the committee says will be passed to the full board for a final resolution and vote at our June 23rd Full Board meeting. The process then moves on to the Borough President for his recommendation(s).

There’s more going on in the coming days, such as a Red Hook Initiative-led discussion regarding last-mile warehouses, details of which you can check out below my signature. But, even if you don’t check them out, if you haven’t already, be sure to get vaccinated against COVID-19 ASAP, and have a great weekend.

Best,
Mike Racioppo, District Manager
