In the Great Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan says that she waits for the longest day of the year and then misses it. The same could be for this newsletter as yesterday, Sunday, June 20th, was the longest day.

In the Great Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan says that she waits for the longest day of the year and then misses it. The same could be for this newsletter as yesterday, Sunday, June 20th, was the longest day. However, despite that, there’s plenty of summer, civics, and daylight to experience this week. To let you bask carefree in the sunlight, I’ll be brief with three focuses.

First tomorrow, Tuesday, June 22nd, is the Primary Election and if your party has a primary and you haven’t voted yet, find out where to do so here. To be clear, one cannot vote today as early voting ended yesterday, so find or confirm your polling site here as we elect a brand new city government.

Second, on Wednesday, June 23rd, we have our Full Board meeting. During this meeting, the board will vote on the motion passed at last week’s Landmarks/Land Use meeting, conditionally approving the Gowanus rezoning. You can read the resolution here so, whether you approve or disapprove, so you’re up to speed. After that, the Gowanus Rezoning will next be reviewed by the Borough President on June 30th. Third, on Thursday, June 24th our Landmarks/Land Use Committee will meet again to review more Gowanus-related items.

I’ll close by recommending reading past my signature to find out about other items of interest and, if you haven’t already done so, get vaccinated against COVID-19 ASAP

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Best,
Mike Racioppo, District Manager
