On the 16th day of August, New York City will become, as some argue it should have already been, the first U.S. city to require proof of at least one dose of a  Covid-19 vaccine for various activities.

On the 16th day of August, New York City will become, as some argue it should have already been, the first U.S. city to require proof of at least one dose of a  Covid-19 vaccine for various activities. This will apply to employees and patrons and include indoor dining, gyms, and performances. While the start date is August 16th, that will begin a transition period, and enforcement will begin September 13th.

Hopefully, this is enough incentive, along with 100 dollars, to get those who remain unvaccinated to change that status so we can be in a post-pandemic place

As noted last week, one way to confirm you vaccination status is to hold onto your vaccination card; another is to download the New York State Excelsior Pass. Now the city has an app to verify your COVID-19 vaccination status and test results and it can be download it for Apple and Droid.

Before my usual recommendation of scrolling past my signature, I’ll remind you that tonight is National Night Out Against Crime. In our district, the 78th precinct will host their event at Grand Army Plaza from 6 until 8 pm, while the 76th will be in Red Hook’s Coffey Park from 4 pm until 7 pm.
