I’ll be brief in advance of our November Full board meeting, which begins tonight at 6:30 PM over Zoom. We’ve got a fuller agenda than last month, with votes scheduled on items from our Budget, Landmarks, Permits & Licences, and Transportation Committees. Speaking of committee votes, you may already know that the City Council's Subcommittees on Zoning and Franchises and Land Use have voted to approve the Gowanus Rezoning, which will now head to a vote by the entire City Council on November 23rd.
What the City Council voted on was, in large measure, aligned with our conditional support of the rezoning and the conditions set forth by the Gowanus Neighborhood Coalition for Justice(GNCJ). This is especially true regarding the 200 Million in funding to repair NYCHA properties at Gowanus and Wyckoff and hundreds of millions for flooding & stormwater infrastructure, including $174m for the 4th Ave sewer.
You can read more details here, and I look forward to seeing many of you tonight over Zoom. Also, with tomorrow being Veterans Day, Brooklyn Community Board 6 thanks all who have served.
On that note, thanks for reading this far along; stay safe, and enjoy the rest of your day.
