Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to all those celebrating, and if you’re not, I’d still hope this email finds you well. Today was a marker in the city’s long road to a new normal as it was the first New York City Saint Patrick’s parade since 2019, with the parade not being held due to Covid in 2020 & 2021. The parade had been held for over 250 consecutive years before the 2020 cancelation. So while I have the bias of Irish ancestry, it’s undoubtedly good to see such a tradition return. 

Today’s parade is more widely recognized, but this Sunday, March 20th, the Brooklyn Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will be held for the first time since 2019 and will take place right here in our district. Not only does it march through our district (Prospect Park West between 15th and 9th street at Noon), the Grand Marshall is a great friend to Brooklyn Community Board 6, Brooklyn Parks Commissioner Martin Maher. It won’t be as big as the parade today, but that doesn’t mean the Brooklyn’s isn’t better. I recommend stopping by if you have the chance.
