There are two items I'd like to highlight before you get started on your weekend if you haven't already done so.

First, Brooklyn Community Board 6’s Landmarks/Land Use (LMLU) Committee met last night to review three Certificates of Appropriateness (C of A) applications. Two of the three applications, 611 11th Street & 281 Carroll Street, were recommended for approval. The other application, 529 1st Street, was tabled. As a result, 529 1st Street will have to return and present at a future LMLU meeting. 281 Carroll Street & 611 11th Street will proceed to a vote by our full board this coming Wednesday, October 12th, at the Van Alen Institute. 

Secondly, I’d like to draw your attention to some potentially good news regarding the Brooklyn Queens Expressway (BQE) plans. The news I’m referring to is in DOT’s most recent presentation, which states: “NYC DOT is initiating studies of Gowanus and Red Hook that will be integrated with this process.” We don’t know the details, but this is encouraging, especially as we’ve asked for such studies multiple times over multiple years.
