Election Day - Last chance to vote! Polls are open until 9 pm

As I'm sure you already know, today is Election Day. The polls are open until 9 p.m.

As I'm sure you already know, today is Election Day. The polls are open until 9 p.m. Big compliments to the election workers who woke up early enough to open the polls at 6 a.m. Please note that schools and government offices are closed, there will be no trash recycling or compost collection, and Alternate Side Parking is suspended today.

Election day is your last chance to vote and determine who the next president is and who represents you in both houses of our federal and state legislatures and ballot proposals. The first of those ballot proposals is for the Equal Rights Amendment, which, if approved, would create constitutional protections against discrimination based on ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, and sex—including sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, and pregnancy outcomes, and reproductive healthcare and autonomy.

Those are great reasons to vote, but since you're likely in Brooklyn if you're reading this, voting today means you'd also be doing your part to ensure the best borough is also the best at voting. I mean that New York City's early voting totals, with 1.1 million votes already cast, almost set a new record, and Brooklyn's 345 thousand voters were the most of any borough. So please do your part and vote.

Speaking of you doing your part, there's an official drought watch. That doesn't mean being a spectator; we can all use less water. 

Of course, there's more than elections and droughts happening. There are grants, films, trees, markets, murals, surveys, our Full Board meeting next Wednesday, November 13th, and more. If you read the rest, you'll see what I'm referring to.

No matter what you do, I hope it includes voting, but no matter what, I wish you the best.
