Clocks, Barnacles, Ballots
I hope you're doing well. Today, Thursday, October 29th, we'll look forward, backward, and through some stuff, so I'll get to it.
First, early voting sites are open until 4 PM. If what's holding you back from voting is not knowing the who, what, when, where, and why, go to bkcb6.app/electionexplainer. After polls close, the Barnacle Parade kicks off at 4:30 in Coffey Park, and the Cobble Hill Health Center will be temporarily haunted. More matters of that ilk, including 3 parades, are listed at bkcb6.app/spooky.
Then, as spooky season officially ends and November begins, clocks go backward, voting ends, and thousands run through the CB6 and the city at large. A less alarmist way to put it is that on Sunday, November 1st, daylight saving time and early voting end, and the New York City Marathon will be held on a route that includes 4th Avenue. For more marathon information, like a layered map, visit bkcb6.app/marathon.
Third, beyond concerns of the following few days, I've compiled, and continue to compile, decades of data on housing costs and availability at bkcb6.app/housecostavail. One part of it is taking every listing from StreetEasy since 2010 in CB6, Brooklyn, and across NYC. You'll find out when you can expect to pay less than 2K a month in any CB6 neighborhood, but I won't spoil it. It also lists affordable (less expensive?) housing lotteries that are open, along with other options. This work focuses on availability and options, and on what it would take to move to CB6, or live elsewhere in the city at different points in time. It's here, in the app, and interactive. I'd say it's a good idea to follow up by taking our district needs survey.
With that, I'll close by suggesting you scroll and read the rest, whether you do or don't, and whether you've downloaded any apps. I wish you well.
