Choices, Stickers, Plans

I hope your week is off to a good start. I’ll start in our immediate orbit and go from there. Last night, our Business Affairs & Licensing Committee approved three liquor licenses, which now move to the Full Board on Wednesday, November 18. One application was for a new Mexican restaurant in Carroll Gardens on Court St btwn 3rd & 4th Pl. The other 2 involve legal and ownership changes but remain the same restaurants: Piccoli Trattoria in Park Slope on 6th Ave & 14th St and, at the corner of Beard Street, Lundy’s in Red Hook.

Speaking of Red Hook, the 14th annual Barnacle Parade is Thursday at 4:00 PM, starting at Coffey Park to celebrate the neighborhood’s resilience on the anniversary of Hurricane Sandy. Most weeks, if there’s one parade, it's the only parade, but this week is built different. Which is to say we’ve actually got three more parades on Halloween: Cobble Hill’s at 4:00 PM, the Pirates of the Gowanus on the canal at 5:30 PM, and Park Slope’s on 14th Street at 6:30 PM. All of them, plus more Halloween events, trick-or-treat streets, and scary movie listings, are at bkcb6.app/spookycb6.

Between, before, and even a bit after any of those events, you can vote in this year's election; polls are open until 8 PM today. Personally, I vote early based on the stickers they hand out, so I’m debating whether to go on Saturday for a Halloween sticker or on Sunday for the newly minted marathon vote sticker. If you're unsure about the who, what, why, when, and where of voting, bkcb6.app/elections has got you covered. I even have some CB6 “I Voted” stickers I’m happy to part with if that’s of concern.

After hard-selling voting, I don’t want to risk choice fatigue, but I am going to say you should take our district needs and budget survey. You can jump right in and take the survey, or read about related matters here or in the app(s). Either way, it’ll register.

I won’t type much more, but I will recommend you read the rest, download, and enjoy the rest of your day whether you do anything mentioned or not.
