Update for January 29, 2019

Update for January 29th 2019 From Brooklyn Community Board 6

February approaches with the prospect of biting cold but here's to a happy Monday.

We kick off the remains of January with a few bits of, potentially useful information.

1-  Reiterating that our very own Joe Anne Brown is still collecting, new and slightly worn, sneakers for students at Wingate High School until February 26th.

We have received some donations but can always use more. You can drop them with me at the district office and I will work with Joe Anne to make sure they get to her and the students.  You may also reach out to Ms. Brown directly at (347)282-3599

2 - I ask that you indulge some institutional boasting and check out the new print edition of BKLYNER - available at our district office along with other sites.

We take pride as this edition includes 5 articles focused on Community Board 6 along with profiles of our Chair Peter Fleming and myself . You don’t have to take my word for it, check out what Councilman Lander had to say .

3-  We have been  vocal in our support of School-Zone speed cameras . How the revenue generated from them is used is also important. For that reason, I’ve included a NY Post piece on the subject .For those who’d prefer the city to have an increase say over the way the city’s transportation and safety initiatives are administered, the proposed plan is not a good one.

4-    To offset prohibitive costs it’s interesting to see D.C allowing city technicians to repair resident’s gadgets . As the article states a trip to a chain store for repair can easily cost hundreds of dollars and can be the difference between having and not having access to technology.

5-  Alternate side parking rules, and meters, will be in effect tomorrow Tuesday, January 29 th .

-Subway service changes for tomorrow, January 29th.

- Bus service changes for tomorrow, January 29th.

As always, feel free to share this information anyway you see fit!
