Whether Punxsutawney Phil or Staten Island Chuck see their respective shadows winter never officially ends until the calendar reads March 21st. However, I remain hopeful upon seeing the list of items below and find them pertinent to your life....
1 - The 2019 Charter Revision Commission officially decided on the issues it would explore and evaluate going forward. Its recommendations will be voted on in the November 2019 election ballot (just as was done last year).
The areas of focus will be elections, governance, finance, and land use. Clearly, those are broad topics so check out this report to get into the specifics which include earlier involvement for Community Boards in the ULURP process and Borough level governance .
2- Tuesday February 5th is Lunar New Year . Check out these options for celebrations across the city.
3 - The time for registering by mail in advance of the February 26th Special Election has passed. However, if you, or anyone you know who is not registered, hesitated you need not wallow in the mire as you can still drop off a registration form at the Board of Elections.
Also, to be clear, if you are already a registered voter this does not affect you and you’ll be able to vote just like before, but feel to check your registration status here.
4- Reminder that our February Board Meeting is coming up on Wednesday February 13th at PS 32- this is the same location as the Gowanus Open house this coming Tuesday.
