I hope this email finds you well as we head into the Weekend. As usual for a Friday email, it includes DOT’s weekend traffic advisory , the MTA "Weekender , " and a heads up that Alternate Side Parking(ASP) will be in effect throughout the weekend.
Our friends at the Gowanus Dredgers are celebrating their 20 th anniversary tonight, Friday, November 22 nd, from 7:00 until 9:30 PM at their boathouse . On Saturday, November 23 rd , the Grand Army Plaza Farmers Market will be held from 8:00 am until 4:00 PM, while on Sunday, November 24th , there are markets at the Old Stone House , in Carroll Gardens , and at Bartell Pritchard Square .
Heading into next week, on Monday, November 25 th, our Permits & Licenses Committee is meeting in the Community Room at 250 Baltic Street . On Tuesday, November 26 th , the Cobble Hill Association will host its annual fall meeting in the Episcopal C hurch at 326 Clinton Street from 7:00 until 8:30 PM and, on the same night, at the Grand Army Plaza Library , a Census 2020 "Teach-In" will be held from 6:00 until 7:30 PM. Wednesday, November 27 th , “Thanksgiving Eve” will remain associated with traffic and bars rather than civic involvement. Thursday, November 28 th, is, of course, Thanksgiving, and you should know Alternate Side Parking and Meters will be suspended but back in effect on Friday, November 29 th . I emphasize that because, historically, a lot of folks don’t seem to realize this and experience less cheer to start the holiday season.
Looking a bit further ahead to Monday, December 2 nd at P.S 32 , the Department of City Planning (DCP) and Housing, Preservation and Development (HPD), will be presenting an update on the Public Place / Gowanus Green site to our Economic /Waterfront/ Community Development & Housing Committee . So, if Gowanus interests you, we hope you can attend. Later that same week, on Thursday, December 5 th Comptroller Stringer hosts a Seniors Town Hall at NYP Brooklyn Methodist Hospital while the next week, on Wednesday, December 11 th , we will hold our December General Board Meeting at the Cobble Hill Health Center beginning at 6:30 PM.
As I say every day, we are lucky to have such an active community, and there is a chance I’ve missed something. If there is an event or something community-centric happening that you think I/others should know about, please let me know .
Have a great weekend and, as always, feel free to share this information however you’d like.
P.S – P.S- if you missed anything in this week's prior updates, you can see them below:
