Tomorrow starts FY 2021 as New York City government is slated to finalize and pass the budget later today. Much like FY 2020, it will include minimal good news and a considerable sleight of hand. It may even get worse as we get further into the year. Sorry that this seems generally negative, but one silver lining is that some of the youth funding, which we had pushed f or, has been restored . Our advocacy predated its inclusion as a social movement goal , and we are glad it gathered momentum for inclusion. It demonstrates that being on the ground and listening community has enduring value to the city that should be preserved in the budgeting process.

I’ll, of course, share more information as I receive it. Still, I wanted to remind you to have a heads up for authorized fireworks happening this evening and throughout the week to celebrate Independence Day. The purpose of having a week-long, stealthy “celebration,” is to avoid large gatherings while acknowledging the holiday. Follow the rules, and next year we can have an old fashioned good time.

Speaking of resources, I know the Alternate Side Parking changes are, at best, slightly confusing The bottom line is that if you are parked on a residential block that has signs indicating ASP occurring once a week on each side, NOTHING CHANGES . If you have further questions, I will, of course, do what I can to find out the answers as simply & quickly as possible.
