I'll start by saying after yesterday's criticisms of those in their 20s for not taking the pandemic seriously enough, I was pleasantly surprised based on email responses, that we have several subscribers in that demographic. Even at 35, I feel prematurely old complaining about "kids these days," however I think it's justified when it helps do all we can to fight this virus, but I digress.

As some of you may have noticed, the Mayor announced, the Uniform Land Use Review Process (ULURP) is resuming , and the City Planning Commission will start holding online hearings beginning in August.

When ULURP's were initially put on hold back in March, we weren't reviewing any certified applications. However, the Gowanus rezoning looms at some point in the future. We've made clear that the Department of City Planning(DCP) should let us know what their plans are ASAP, along with lots of stuff you can read about here .

The rezoning was in the news as recently as yesterday with the Gowanus Neighborhood Coalition for Justice (GNCJ) reiterating their stance in City-limits. At the same time, you may recall that a few weeks back, there were dueling letters of support and opposition.

I haven't been given any sort of indication of a timeline from City Hall or DCP. However, if the rezoning is certified, we'll do everything we can to ensure as much input as possible. There are two points I'd like to clarify. First, finding my cell phone number and cursing me out, while at times funny, doesn't help advance your point of view, and, no matter what your perspective, please don't assume I disagree with you or that everyone else agrees with you. Let the process and any legal actions play out.

Anyway, I'll leave you for now, but suggest you read on passed my signature and if you go outside, keep your distance and cover your face (not either/or).
