Evrémonde, Early, Absentee
I hope this email finds you well on this cloudy Tuesday. Some reminders new and old today, but I’ll be as brief as possible.
I hope this email finds you well on this cloudy Tuesday. Some reminders new and old today, but I’ll be as brief as possible.
We are two weeks from the state and federal elections, but early voting starts this Saturday, October 24th, and you can still request an absentee ballot until a week from today, on Tuesday, October 27th. One week from today, the CB6 Permits & Licenses committee will review two liquor license applications beginning at 6:30 PM via Zoom.
However, there are still lots of things happening this week, including two CB6 committee meetings. Tomorrow night Wednesday, October 21st, our Parks Committee meets at 6:30 PM, and our Landmarks/Land Use Committee is meeting on Thursday, October 22nd, at 6:00 PM. If you want to submit comments, it’s constructive to do so via our portal, as some have already done.
Lastly, before my daily recommendation that you read past my email signature, I’d strongly recommend reading the New York Daily News’s cover story from yesterday. The story is about two school districts, and the inequity, based on family income, heightened with our return to school. One of those two districts is our very own District 15. You may recall that this is almost EXACTLY what we, and many others, including teachers and principals, were saying would happen, and now it’s happening. My only hope is that the city listens to educators going forward instead of politicians, so maybe when the next someone cites the “tale of 2 cities,” it’s confirmed they don’t think of Charles Darnay’s uncle as a hero.
I’ll end here and hope you enjoy the rest of your Tuesday.
