I hope this email finds everyone having had a good weekend as we kick off a week that starts with a COVID-19 vaccine rollout and possible snowstorms, and yes, the title of the email is a reference to a Bob Dylan song. Without a doubt, this is the most prominent and most immediately needed vaccine we’ve had since the polio vaccine became available.  Three hundred thousand deaths, so many of which were preventable, is nothing in which to take pride. However, while we see the light at the end of the tunnel,  we are still in the darkness. It’s why indoor dining is shutdown starting today and why so many need help to survive. 

There aren’t any official CB6 meetings until a week from tonight, but that doesn’t mean we are in for a week in the doldrums. Two prime examples of community activity are events being held by Assemblymember Carroll and Assemblymember Simon.  

Tomorrow night Assemblymember Carroll holds a virtual panel with leading reading experts from the Haskins Global Literacy Hub to learn about free resources to support your child’s learning during COVID-19. The following morning you can get your caffeine or decaffeinated fix while discussing community issues and concerns with Assemblymember Simon in another “Java with Jo Anne.”  

This week, other things are happening, I hope I haven't missed any, but most are listed below my email signature.
