If you’re wondering what the subject line of this email, “Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona duit!”, meant you probably aren't Irish. What the phrase translates to from Gaelic is “Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to You.” Please indulge me. Despite my last name and the placement of the “O” in it, I am the son of an Irish-American mother.

Even if you won’t indulge me or don’t care for this day, I hope this email finds you well. I’ll be brief with a quick reminder of the last normal Saint Patrick’s parade here in Brooklyn back in 2019. That day, our community marched in the first truly inclusive Brooklyn Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. The Brooklyn Irish LGBTQ Organization (BILO) became the first LGBTQ group to march in the event. Folks such as Assemblymember Robert Carroll and our Chair, Peter Fleming, had been part of a fight to make that a reality, and it should sustain our price and give us some hope going forward. 

Speaking of going forward, tomorrow, Thursday, March 18th, our Transportation & Public Safety Committee will meet beginning at 6:30 PM. The agenda will feature CitiBike expansion and the new commanding officer of the 78th Precinct. If that interests you, register here.
