As of today, most venues can reopen at full capacity, as the universal indoor mask mandate has been lifted. Covid-19 stats are looking better than they have in months, but caution is still necessary.

As of today, most venues can reopen at full capacity, as the universal indoor mask mandate has been lifted. Covid-19 stats are looking better than they have in months, but caution is still necessary. People across our city are still dying of Covid-19 every day, and too many people are yet to be vaccinated. So, if you’re eager to return to a pre-pandemic level of caution or want to be safer, get vaccinated ASAP. 

Tonight, Wednesday, May 19th, at 6:30 PM, our Parks Committee meets over zoom. Representatives from the Parks Department will be there to discuss the state of parks in our community. If that interests you, register here.

There’s other stuff happening between now and the weekend, but I’d like to draw your attention to some civics this Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, May 22nd, the Red Hook Initiative hosts a candidate forum for the 38th council district in Coffey Park. While on Sunday, May 23rd, from 5 until 630 PM, at the Old Stone House, we’re co-sponsoring a 39th Council District Forum. The forum will be moderated by two excellent CB6 based journalists, Sadef Kully and Ben Verde, so RSVP ASAP. If you read that and, like most people, haven’t memorized which council district is which, use this handy search engine to find your district.
