Last night our city set a new record for rainfall, and 12 of our fellow New Yorkers died due to Ida’s impact. Not that I don’t mean it every day, but I’d like to emphasize that I hope this email finds you well on a day like this.

Last night our city set a new record for rainfall, and 12 of our fellow New Yorkers died due to Ida’s impact. Not that I don’t mean it every day, but I’d like to emphasize that I hope this email finds you well on a day like this.

Hopefully, you’re able to stay home and not travel as subways are limited and extremely delayed, while all non-emergency vehicles are advised to stay off of streets and highways to allow the cleanup to proceed.  This reinforces the need for increased resiliency, greener infrastructure,  and reduced reliance on fossil fuels and other generators of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Hopefully, we act as quickly as necessary I don’t enjoy living through concurrent and compounding crises, but maybe that’s just me

Of course, one of those other crises is Covid-19, and due to it, we postponed our September board meeting. However, thanks to the state's recent actions, we are allowed to meet virtually again. But that’s no reason not to get vaccinated, so please do so ASAP if you haven’t.
