I hope this email finds you well and warm as we brace for some snow. The estimates run a range, but the most likely amount is somewhere between 8 and 12 inches. 

A state of emergency has been declared, The New York City Office of Emergency Management issued a hazardous travel advisory, and the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning. The advisory and warning will go into effect tonight, Friday, January 28th, at 7 pm and be in effect until tomorrow, Saturday, January 29th, at 7 pm. In practical terms, it amounts to staying inside through Saturday. 

While it may not have been done to reduce the Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) while staying in, fewer services will be available. For example, Sanitation will be focusing on snow operations, so collections are likely to be delayed; the MTA has said outdoor portions subways could stop at some point, outdoor dining will be suspended, libraries and city-run Covid-19 vaccine & testing sites will be closed. Also, NYC Department of Education sponsored activities are canceled. If other announcements are made, I’ll be sure to share them ASAP.

Before my regular suggestion to read below my contact information, I’d like to highlight some CB6 specific information. First, at last night’s CB6 Landmarks/Land Use (LMLU) meeting, the Certificate of Appropriateness for 205 Clinton Street was approved and will move forward to be voted on at our February 9th meeting. However, the other application for 305 President Street was tabled, and we’ll hear from them again at a future LMLU meeting. If you missed the meeting or want to rewatch it, you can do so on our YouTube page. Also, we have an update coming up on parks in our district on Wednesday, February 16th, at 6:30 pm.
