I hope this email finds you well and dug out from any snow that fell last weekend. If not, much of the snow is likely to melt away, or be slush, when it warms up later this week. But before that, specifically, now, I’d like to highlight three things.

First, new congressional district lines are expected to be approved this week by the New York State Legislature, which means that many of us may end up in a new district or with a new representative in Congress. If you’d like to see what district you’ll be living in or what changes are proposed, I’d recommend checking out the maps at redistrictingandyou.org.

Second, Covid cases are down over 90% from their peak just a few weeks back on the pandemic front. However, people are still being infected, ending up in the hospital and dying. However, those vaccinated and boosted are way less likely to end up in the hospital or dead, and as of yesterday, 75% of New Yorkers are fully vaccinated. Also, as the Mayor announced yesterday, people who test positive for Covid can receive free same-day at-home delivery of oral antiviral pills to treat it by calling 212-COVID19.

Third, the next few weeks have a lot going on, so it may be helpful to scroll down and mark your calendar now. The "going on" includes our board meeting next Wednesday, February 9th, and a meeting that DEP is hosting on Thursday, February 10th, focusing on the Gowanus Canal "Owls Head" combined sewer overflow facility.
