I hope this email finds you well on this fourth day of February. We’re heading into a weekend that may turn icy as temperatures drop with a Winter Weather Advisory in effect.
I hope this email finds you well on this fourth day of February. We’re heading into a weekend that may turn icy as temperatures drop with a Winter Weather Advisory in effect. But, before the weekend gets going, I’d like to draw your attention to three items.
First, I’d like to congratulate CB6 resident and Prospect Park Alliance President Sue Donaghue on her appointment as New York City Parks Commissioner. She did a fantastic job with Prospect Park, and all 5 Boroughs will benefit from her new role. Speaking of parks, we’ll receive an update and presentation on parks across our district on February 16th. This update will occur at our Parks & Environmental Protection Committee meeting, held over zoom and to begin at 6:30 PM. You can register for this meeting at bit.ly/cb6parksfeb16.
Secondly, a week before that parks meeting, our full board meets on Wednesday, February 9th, at 6:30 PM. The meeting will include votes on two liquor license applications, one Certificate of Appropriateness application, reports from elected officials, and other community-related items. To join the meeting, go to the following link:bit.ly/Feb9CB6.
Thirdly, at 7 pm on Thursday, Feb 10th, on Zoom, New York City’s Department of Environmental Protection is hosting a meeting about developing the Gowanus Canal "Owls Head" combined sewer overflow (CSO) facility at 2nd Avenue and 6th Street. The “Owls Head” CSO facility is an especially important project as a condition in our Gowanus Rezoning resolution was that the rezoning “must result in a net decrease in CSOs .” You can register for this meeting at bit.ly/feb10dep.
Lastly, and this is a standing opinion of mine, if you keep scrolling down this email, you’ll find additional interesting items and happenings. However, whether you read past here or not, stay safe and have a great weekend.
