I hope this email finds you well as we finish February. There are three quick items I’d like to highlight.

First, a final reminder that our Permits & Licenses committee meets tonight at 6:30 PM over zoom. The agenda will consist of five applications to the New York State Liquor Authority for On-Premises Liquor Licenses. Secondly, as you likely heard from sources with a wider reach than this newsletter, Mayor Adams announced that school mask mandates and vaccine screening at restaurants and other private businesses are slated to end a week from today on Monday, March 7th. However, let’s not forget that while the positivity rate is certainly in a “good” place, we’re still seeing roughly one thousand New Yorkers test positive for Covid-19 every day. Also, mask mandates and vaccine screenings will remain in various settings. For example, public transportation, healthcare, and hospitals still require masks, and some cultural venues, such as Broadway shows, will still require masks and vaccine verification.

Third, this week was scheduled to have 2 CB6 committee meetings, but unfortunately, the Department of Transportation CANNOT update us regarding the BQE this Thursday, March 3rd. The BQE is an incredibly important issue to our community. We’d already moved the date for this presentation at DOT’s request to be notified only a few days in advance that it’s not possible is, to say the least, very frustrating. So hopefully, this can be re-re-scheduled sooner rather than later.

I could continue complaining, but I’ll stop here. Many items are listed below my contact information, and I’d recommend checking them out.
