I hope this email finds you well as we begin the third month of the year, and for those who celebrate such things, Happy Mardi Gras! I have four items to which I’d like to draw your attention.

I hope this email finds you well as we begin the third month of the year, and for those who celebrate such things, Happy Mardi Gras! I have four items to which I’d like to draw your attention.

First, I start with some sad news. South Brooklyn's Cecilia Cacace, a member of Brooklyn Community Board 6 from 1982 until 2008, has passed away. I only met Cecilia a few times before she reluctantly moved to Wisconsin in 2013. Still, her reputation preceded her as someone who could never be ignored and who advocated for her beliefs and helped people any way she could. I hope that for all who did know her, may her memory, especially her deep commitment to community, be a blessing and inspiration going forward.

Secondly, as previewed, our Permits & Licenses committee met last night. The committee reviewed four new on-premises liquor license applications, and all four were overwhelmingly approved. If you’re interested but didn’t attend last night or want to relive it, you may watch all the action on our Youtube page. However, if you’d prefer to only look to the future, those four applications, just like last week's Landmarks & Land Use Items, will next be up for a vote from our Full Board a week from tomorrow on Wednesday, March 9th. Again, like last night’s meeting, the Full Board meeting will be held over Zoom and begin at 6:30 PM and you can register for it by clicking here or going to bit.ly/Mar9cb6.

Third, since today is Mardi Gras or “Fat Tuesday,” tomorrow, March 2nd, is Ash Wednesday, and as such Alternate Side Parking Regulations will be suspended. However, please take note that parking meters will remain in effect. 

Fourth, don’t forget that Thursday’s BQE meeting is CANCELED. Thanks to everyone who has amplified that on social media.

On that note, I’ll stop, I’ll stop here. Many items are listed below my contact information, and I’d recommend checking them out.
