First, a reminder of two upcoming meetings. One is the Cobble Hill Association's annual meeting tonight over Zoom at 6:00 PM. You register for the meeting by going to: https://t.co/fERTHC9xhT. The other, also on Zoom, and starting at 6:30 PM, is tomorrow night’s CB6 Landmarks/Land Use(LMLU) Committee meeting. The agenda consists of “LM” with two applications for Certificates of Appropriateness and “LU” with a ULURP application for a rezoning and special permit at 9th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue. To read more about it or register for the meeting, go to bit.ly/CB6May26LMLU.
Secondly, we’ve signed a letter to Deputy Mayor Torres-Springer regarding last-mile warehouses and the need to reform zoning and planning in industrial areas due to the environmental impact and damages such warehouses cause to the surrounding communities. The letter is also signed by Council Member Avilés, Council Member Gutiérrez, Council Member Restler, Borough President Reynoso, and Community Board 7. The letter is the product of excellent work by Council Member Aviles and her team. You can read it by going to bit.ly/lmwtodmts or linktr.ee/cb6lastmileinfo, which includes years of our positions on “last mile warehouses” and the need to reduce truck traffic in Red Hook.
Third, the Health Department’s Covid-19 alert system remains at high risk (Orange). So, if you haven’t already, get vaccinated and boosted by going to vax4nyc.nyc.gov.
If you read past my contact information, you’ll find a lot is happening across our community this week and beyond. However, whether you check out any of these happenings or not, stay safe, and enjoy the rest of your day.
