Fifth tool, and the one that started this series: bkcb6.app/blockbyblock. Mayor Mamdani’s housing plan, Block by Block, mapped by community board and council district, with the Land Inventory Fast Track list at the center of it: all 120 city-owned sites, sortable by site, address, agency, neighborhood, council district, or community board, with a CB6-only view. Two are here, Gowanus Green and the Brooklyn Marine Terminal.

Alongside the list is the record it should be measured against: what each district built over the last ten years, how rents moved, and what got rezoned. For CB6 that includes Pratt’s Middle Housing Gone Missing, Rebecca Kobert’s study of neighborhood change in this district from 2003 to 2024, and our own district needs statement, where building and preserving housing is the top priority. The plan’s own words are on the page too, from chapter 4.2: the comprehensive 1961 rezoning reduced citywide housing capacity by 80 percent, and the regulatory tools that followed have frequently been used for exclusionary ends, especially in the city’s wealthiest, resource-rich neighborhoods.
