Demographics
In 2023, East Harlem was the city’s 42nd largest neighborhood by population out of 59 neighborhoods. Among the 59 districts, it has the 17th largest proportion of nonwhite population, the 50th highest median income, and the 52nd most expensive rents. From 2010 to 2024, the district added 7,209 new housing units, 3,203 units of which were market rate and 4,006 units of which were income restricted.
